Because I can't read anything and feel like I have presbyopia. Would lowering the resolution make everything bigger and easier to read, even if it's in VR? I try to click FLY or Cancel, but neither button works and have to resort to alt-F4ing out of the game. I know the game hasn't crashed when this happens because you still the mouse over animation when hovering over the Fly or Cancel buttons.
Not sure how popular DCS is with VR nowadays but if anyone can help it would be very much appreciated! Showing 1 - 12 of 12 comments. Just want to add that these issues aside, the immersion is amazing with the Vive and greatly enhances your situation awareness.
Example: Reach over to grip of gun and press "button"-auto attaches to pistol grip. It would be amazeballs for sure! I notice that switches are a little blurry. I love the sim without VR obviously. I have seen some concerns that VR hands wont work but I would debate that bc I have played enough variety of games to know they can control anything.

Im not sure the switches are blurry bc of pixel density.The Rift S has many levels of Sim Pilots as owners. The setup here attempts to ensure a good initial experience for just about anyone running a Rift S on their system. Experienced VR pilots may not find a lot of new info in this posting.
For new Pilots, it will get you flying quickly and start more tuning from here. The following setup works to maintain that simplicity. OTT gives you on-the-fly change capabilities for tuning your experience. Your rig may be able to run up to 1. Past 2. Smoothness comes from Low FrameTimes generally in the low to mid-teens. We hope you can benefit from the collective brainpower. Carry On! Anything other than native resolution is a degraded picture. If you want all the pixels, then you cannot add the eye candy. We compromise and we have good tools to strike a balance of pixels to see things at a distance and pixels mushed together to see circles and stop the sparkly things. This in-game tool suite was built for flat screens before 4K or 8K and ti cards to push pixels through the pipe.

Apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere I did search both here on Steam and on the regular forum, but didn't find anything I am wondering if DCS can be controlled in VR using only the Vive hand-controllers. Or if a joystick is required. I have heard unconfirmed talk about it being either possible, or perhaps coming, in DCS. I know it's the method used by several other sims, and personally one I prefer very much over using a 'normal' joystick.

I just wanted to connect my hotas to VTOR VR, but I just realize that I would really like to control all the plane in DCS with hand controls, it would be so easy to jump in and play, because I do not have to think about any control binding.

My number one genre, however, is flight simulation, so DCS World was high on my list of things to try. With some degree of luck I would eventually arrive in the cockpit with the flight briefing menu floating in front of me. This was a beautiful sight to behold: sitting in a life-size 3D cockpit and being able to look around at all the instruments; no longer sitting in front of a two-dimensional compressed representation of the 3D world, but actually being there.
Peering out through the glass canopy, seeing the enormous outstretched wings of my jet… the sheer scale of the landscape, and the feeling of speed at low level. Imagine my surprise when a few months later having decided to give it another tryI discover that as of DCS World 1.
With the improvements for the Rift, initially made available late last year in a beta release, the main menu now displays correctly in VR along with all of the other menus and sections.
For one, if I press escape in-flight to change settings, the pop-up menu is attached to and moves with my head, and the text is too small to read on the Rift DK2. It would be better to have this text appear closer-in to the sharpest area of the lenses. Even now, I must say overall that the game is an incredible experience for VR users with the 1. It all depends how much you love virtual reality. A number of folks in the simulator space are very cautious about VR or simply prefer to stay with their battle-tested multi-monitor set-ups.
This view is beginning to creep into the PC gaming world as well from the early adopters of VR technology. I also realise that not everyone in the simulator space are on-board with the VR explosion and some are positively hostile towards it. I believe it should be optional rather than mandatory. Those who want to play on conventional displays can do so, but I will certainly stay with VR.
Why are folks in the simulator community hostile toward VR? Yes, this is a good argument, and maybe a buy-holder for some people. All reviews of people playing DCS or some other flying games are blown away by the VR potential, and cannot go back to the screen, it is adding so much more fun, and fun is what matters.
They might have build entire cockpits from photographs and take pride in mastering startup routines, radio communication, navigation and so on. For that reason they might respond with irritation when one keeps preaching to them about the glories of VR, because they feel as though something useless is being pushed into their faces. I think that VR has the potential of rejuvenating sim gaming among more mainstream people, and Eve: Valkyrie is exactly the sort of title that OR should have in their release line-up.
I think hardcore simmers should wait a few years, current headset are too low res. An apparent res of p is not too much to be able to spot bandits before they spot you.
On the other and a monitor gives you a miniature, compressed view of the world. With VR I can look all around and have good field of view. Everything is life-size with depth. Thanks, this helps put it into perspective for me.
There are already profiles for a few of the planes in DCS world so you can do all your comms by voice. It even has logic for stringing together commands. So you can use a prefix like a Wingman number, then RTB, and they chain nicely. Hi Raphael and thanks for the article.New to the forums?

Thanks a lot. August edited August Many of the DCS aircraft also have clickable cockpits, so any of the cockpit controls can be looked at and clicked with the mouse buttons.
I fly the AC in VR. The SUT aircraft that comes free with the base game does not have a clickable cockpit, so keep that in mind. You will have to buy an different aircraft module to get clicking. I also use VAC for this - I'll be uploading some of the profiles once they are all tested. I'll be doing them for every module - VAC is not free, but it's the best voice command prog I have come across in the last 6 or 7 years.

DCS supports pretty much any game device, I'd be surprised if it didn't detect an xbox controller. Of course you'd most likely have to set up the bindings manually, xbox controllers and highly detailed military simulations don't usually go hand in hand. The ring type devices have three tactile push buttons along the inbound sides, allowing them to be identified and pressed with the thumb.
Each ring is tracked in 2d space only, emulating mouse movement and button presses. Software is provided to customize personal parameters and functions. So basically, instead of searching for the mouse or picking up a secondary controller, you just point at the switch, button, or lever you want to interact with, and then press one of the three tactile switches to operate it.
A companion product will also be available that simulates touching a cockpit panel. The mouse press is emulated when finger contact is made with the panel, while the position is being tracked by the camera. PointCTRL can also be configured to work with standard monitors. Part of my reason for posting my progress is to help me stay focused on this task, as I tend to get distracted by shiny things.

Dear users! I seem to have a pair of gloves floating around my cockpit and other than disabling the Touch controllers which is a pain in da preverbial Is there some way in sim to disable them? Do your Touch controllers not enter standby mode? Gloves should go away then Mine enter standby fairly quickly. Usually by time I start DCS they are already in standby. Originally Posted by OutLord.
